The Dirty Buff Gravel Ride – 2nd May

Rainbow Cycles is super proud to be involved in supporting “The Dirty Buff” the regions first gravel ride brought to you by the Macksville Cycle Club.

Like the “Ride Around The River” only dirty!

The 2 distances feature different grades of gravel road. The 25km route is fantastic gravel roads ideal for nearly any bike running 30mm or better tyres, “grade 2 gravel”. The longer 50km route is more challenging with 12km of forestry roads incorporated into the the route. Some of these roads are quite technical and to be sure the wider the tyre you run the easier it will be! 33mm tyres are probably the minimum for the 12km technical section it might be considered “grade 3.5 gravel” (check out https://youtu.be/RIHiiTBk6K8 to see what we mean by ‘grade’).

See some of the route on this short video on our facebook page showing some of the roads and scenery we ride past.

The routes will be well signed however riders should familiarise themselves with the routes, especially the 50km riders who run a long first lap followed by a shorter 2nd lap inside the first lap:  ridewithgps 50km and ridewithgps 25km. Please note that while the roads are ‘quite’ in this area, this is NOT a closed road event riders will need to follow all road rules.

All cyclists will be welcome to participate in the Dirty Buff, but please note we need to declare the event finished by 1pm and external support won’t be available for riders on course after this time.

Entries open April 2nd, with cashless (only) entries available on the day, but not after 8am.

Other things to do after the ride:

Check out the Buffalo Farm (the gelato is awesome!) , picnic at Cedars reserve (off the 50km route) or at the Unkya Reserve at the start finish.
